FAQ - 💬

❓ What is RIXUBIS used for?

👉 RIXUBIS is an injectable medicine used to replace clotting factor IX that is missing in adults and children with hemophilia B (also called congenital factor IX deficiency or Christmas disease). RIXUBIS is used to control and prevent bleeding in people with hemophilia B.

❓ Who makes RIXUBIS?

👉 Developed by Takeda. Takeda has over 70 years of dedicated history to the hematology and rare disorders communities. RIXUBIS is a third-generation recombinant factor IX, produced by DNA technology.

❓ Does BeneFIX expire?

👉 BeneFIX can be stored at room temperature or under refrigeration (2°C-30°C/36°F-86°F) for up to 2 years, until expiration. Do not freeze the BeneFIX kit.

❓ What is Haemophilia B?

👉 Haemophilia B is a type of clotting disorder. The specific coagulation factor that is missing or reduced in people with Haemophilia B is Factor IX. The severity of symptoms ranges from mild to severe depending on the amount of Factor IX present in the blood and its activity.

❓ How do you infuse Alprolix?

👉 Slowly depress the plunger on the syringe to administer ALPROLIX. ALPROLIX should be injected intravenously over several minutes. The rate of administration should be determined by your comfort level. The small amount of drug product left in the infusion set will not affect treatment.

❓ What is BeneFIX used for?

👉 BeneFix, Coagulation Factor IX (Recombinant), is an injectable medicine that is used to help control and prevent bleeding in people with hemophilia B. Your doctor might also give you BeneFix before surgical procedures. BeneFix is NOT used to treat hemophilia A.

❓ How does BeneFIX work?

👉 BeneFIX works by replacing factor IX to enable blood to clot. BeneFIX is used for the control and treatment of bleeding and the prevention of bleeding in people with haemophilia B. BeneFIX has been approved for use in haemophilia B.

❓ What are 5 symptoms of hemophilia?

👉 Symptoms

  • Unexplained and excessive bleeding from cuts or injuries, or after surgery or dental work.
  • Many large or deep bruises.
  • Unusual bleeding after vaccinations.
  • Pain, swelling or tightness in your joints.
  • Blood in your urine or stool.
  • Nosebleeds without a known cause.
  • In infants, unexplained irritability.

❓ Can hemophilia B be cured?

👉 Hemophilia B is a chronic condition. Healthcare providers can't cure it, but they do have treatments that prevent or ease serious joint pain and other medical issues. Most people receiving treatment for hemophilia B have a good prognosis or expected outcome.

❓ What is Alprolix used for?

👉 INDICATION: ALPROLIX ® [Coagulation Factor IX (Recombinant), Fc Fusion Protein] is an injectable medicine that is used to help control and prevent bleeding in people with hemophilia B.

❓ What is the half life of Alprolix?

👉 So it's perhaps not useful to look at Alprolix's half-life as a multiple of BeneFIX's half- life; it's useful to look at what the half-life of Alprolix actually is, that is, 82 hours.

👉 RIXUBIS [Coagulation Factor IX (Recombinant)] is a purified protein produced by recombinant DNA technology. Its amino acid sequence is identical to that of the Ala-148 allelic form of plasma derived factor IX, and its structural and functional characteristics are similar to those of plasma derived factor IX.

👉 Some common side effects of RIXUBIS were unusual taste in the mouth and limb pain. Tell your healthcare provider about any side effects that bother you or do not go away. Your body may form inhibitors to factor IX.

👉 Rixubis is formulated as a sterile, nonpyrogenic lyophilized powder to be reconstituted with Sterile Water for Injection for intravenous administration. It does not contain any preservatives and is available in single-use vials containing the labeled amount of factor IX activity, expressed in international units.

👉 Rixubis can therefore be used to replace the missing factor IX, giving temporary control of the bleeding disorder.
